Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about HS2C.org and how it supports students, parents, and educators.
Overview
HS2C is an educational technology platform designed to comply with Utah Code 53E requirements for College and Career Awareness (CCA), College and Career Readiness (CCR), and Career and Technical Education (CTE), which the state requires beginning in 7th grade. It assists counselors, educators, and administrators by leveraging technology to save time, increase reach and impact, and provide actionable data and analytics. Educators can generate custom reports to identify students who need extra attention, with both macro-level tracking (graduation rates, CTE career pathways, concurrent enrollment) and micro-level analytics (individual goals, college selections, admission applications, grant applications).
Over 60% of adults don’t have a college degree, so HS2C starts with College and Career Awareness that benefits all students and parents. For college-bound students, it provides CCR tools and guidance. For students pursuing the workforce, technical careers, or certificate programs, the CTE resources are invaluable. With online access for parents, students, and educators, HS2C increases collaboration, communication, and accountability — empowering families to take ownership while counselors provide targeted support.
College isn’t for everyone, and HS2C is built with that in mind. The College and Career Awareness component benefits all students and parents. For students heading directly into the workforce or pursuing technical careers, the CTE resources, Career Cluster Pathways, and related tools provide significant value.
HS2C fulfills over 20 provisions of Utah Code 53E, including:
- Meeting the college and career readiness definition
- Integrating technology into curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Providing for teacher and parent involvement
- Supporting strategic planning at the district and school level
- Helping students acquire academic and occupational knowledge and skills
- Involving business and industry in the education process
- Developing individualized plans for college and career readiness beginning in grade 7
- Planning, monitoring, and managing education and career development
- Supporting annual reporting requirements
- Aligning with National Career Clusters
Platform & Features
Yes. HS2C integrates with any Learning Management System (LMS), Student Information System (SIS), and Single Sign-On (SSO) solution. As a startup, some programming may be required for systems we haven’t previously integrated with. For example, we are currently onboarding our first full school district with integration into both their SIS and their SSO provider, ClassLink.
We have developed a Concurrent Enrollment tracker that is currently being implemented for our first pilot school district, and it will be available very soon. With roughly 6,000 colleges and universities in the U.S., students can research degree offerings and requirements directly from those institutions, then save notes and details in their portal.
The ACT/SAT section is a chapter within the High School to College Scholarship Guide® — it is not a test prep program. The chapter explains what the tests are, why they’re important, and includes links to additional test prep resources. Each chapter throughout the Guide includes links to many related and relevant external resources.
HS2C is designed to prepare students for both college admissions and scholarships. The High School to College Scholarship Guide® explains the various ways to pay for college, with a focus on grants and scholarships. It includes links to several scholarship resources, with more being added over time.
All content is updated regularly. We utilize a combination of technology, widgets, applications, and AI to scan for updates, which are then applied as they are identified.
The High School to College Scholarship Guide® includes a chapter on the importance of college admission and scholarship essays. Students are encouraged to practice writing essays, which can be uploaded and saved in the portal. Counselors can see which students have practiced and saved essays. Each school or counselor can coordinate and facilitate essay support based on their specific situation. As a pilot program, we welcome feedback on features like guided essay practice.
Implementation
Utah already has CCA/CCR/CTE requirements in place — HS2C provides the technology and tools to revolutionize how those requirements are met and dramatically improve outcomes. Currently, these programs vary widely from school to school and district to district. Schools create the incentive by integrating HS2C into existing classes, college and career readiness counseling, preparation periods, or character development time.
HS2C is designed to be implemented, administered, and monitored at the school, district, or even state level. The platform includes a built-in permission hierarchy where administrators, educators, and counselors can see downstream but not upstream. For example, a district administrator has global access, while school-level access can be limited to specific counselors, grades, or alphabetical ranges. Everything is fully customizable. Students and parents are empowered with the tools to take ownership, while counselors gain analytics and reporting that enable targeted support — saving hours per week.
Privacy & Security
Absolutely not. We adhere to the strictest state privacy laws. Utah’s Student Data Privacy laws are extremely robust, and we fully comply with them. Student information is never sold or shared with any outside parties, under any circumstances.
